Truths I've learned about Love

The greatest love sometimes comes from the greatest sorrow. How can you really measure how much you love someone until you are faced with the loss of that person? True love is deep and complex, with many levels of understanding. There are many levels to love, in which few people ever achieve the most complex and deepest level. Especially when the object of your love is someone not of your own flesh. Its far easier to truly love someone when they are naturally tied to you by genetics. The Greeks had 4 different words to describe love.   Storge – affection, Philia – friendship, Eros – romance, Agape – unconditional love. Its this last, and most powerful level of love thats the hardest to achieve, because to achieve this you must first decide how much you are willing to suffer for this object of your love. Sacrificing one's own selfish desires and needs, for the needs of someone else.  To love someone not of your flesh unconditionally, is a raw powerful love. Because you know they may never learn to love you back this way, but you love them despite this. Learning to love someone like this does not comes naturally, and usually can't be known until it is put through the trials that come with life. This kind of love comes from complete understanding and forgiveness of the other person's weaknesses. But to achieve this level of love for another human being can be both powerful and excruciating painful. Its a willingness to suffer your own loss of self to give entirely to another. It is the ultimate love you can feel for another human being.
